RESTAURANTS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE THIRD ANNUAL TRAVERS 1864 RESTAURANT WEEK

Restaurants throughout the greater Capital Region to offer special $18.64 menu August 19-23

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) is inviting restaurants to participate in the third annual Travers 1864 Restaurant Week from Sunday, August 19 through Thursday, August 23.

During the five-day event, diners have the opportunity to indulge in a three-course meal at participating restaurants in the greater Capital Region for the prix-fixe cost of $18.64, the year of the inaugural Travers, one of the oldest major stakes races in the country for 3-year-olds.

The culinary offering will take place in the days leading up to the 143rd running of the Grade 1, $1 million Travers Stakes on Saturday, August 25 at Saratoga Race Course.

Six restaurants that participate in this year’s Travers 1864 Restaurant Week will receive one week of on-track digital advertising at Saratoga Race Course in 2013. Winners will be chosen at random and will have prominent branding on Saratoga’s LED infield tote board, which will display vibrant four-color messaging an average of 10 times per day.

Last summer, more than 60 restaurants participated in Travers 1864 Restaurant Week as the celebration expanded to include establishments in Warren and Montgomery counties. The 2011 numbers marked a 50% increase over the inaugural year, reflective of the interest and impact of Saratoga Race Course across a widespread geographic footprint.

The return of Travers 1864 Restaurant Week follows an October 2011 announcement from the Saratoga County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) that detailed the extensive economic impact of Saratoga Race Course on the greater Capital Region. Reporting the results of a study conducted by HR&A Advisors, Inc., the IDA announced the economic benefit of Saratoga Race Course on regional output is estimated to exceed $200 million annually.
