This significant gain followed substantial attendance gains posted the previous weekend for
Opening Day Friday, May 4, which featured nine races as well as the simulcast of the Kentucky Oaks, attracted a crowd of 9,307 which is 23% more than the 2011 figure of 7,596. It is also the 2nd largest Opening Day attendance of the last decade.
