NO SPIN, SLAMIT WORK WELL ON
Black Gold Racing's No Spin and stable mate Slamit worked together over
No Spin, beaten a half-length by the 6-year-old Quite a Handful in his last start May 5, had jockey Channing Hill in the irons on Sunday morning, while Slamit, who has never raced on turf but won Sam Houston's $50,000 Spring Stakes over muddy going March 10, had jockey Rosemary Homeister Jr. in the saddle.
Working in company, the Tim Ice-trained pair got splits of 37 flat and 1:02.60 before completing the six-furlong distance in 1:14.60.
Slamit then went out seven-eighths in 1:27 while No Spin galloped out the same distance in 1:27.40.
"I thought they both worked excellent," said Ice moments after the move. "That will make the decision about which one to run a little bit harder. I'll probably end up running both of them after I talk to the owners (Leonard Blach and Ray Willis)."
