Thank you for your interest in covering the 137th running of the $1 million Preakness® Stakes on Saturday, May 19 2012 (82 days from today).
The Preakness credential application is now available at http://www.preakness.com/page/media-credentials
Please have a representative from your outlet/department complete the application, including the insurance form, and return it by mail to the Pimlico Media Relations Department no later than Friday, April 27 2012. The mailing address is on the application. Applying in no way guarantees a media outlet will receive credentials.
Before the credentials are issued, the indemnification for coverage form must be signed and submitted in case of any event happening on Pimlico Race Course property where proof of liability insurance is needed.
Outlets with more than a handful of names can e-mail the list to Mike Gathagan (mgathagan@marylandracing.com) but must mail the indemnification form before being issued the credentials.
Requests submitted after April 27 may not be granted.
A freelancer cannot request accreditation on behalf of the organization that he or she is representing. The request must come from a general manager, news director or assignment editor.
Springtime in Maryland is always an exciting time and this year is no different. Preakness week kicks off with the Post Position draw on Wednesday afternoon, May 16 with the annual Alibi Breakfast scheduled the following morning in the Terrace Dining Room. Live racing will be offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday during Preakness week.
We look forward to your visit to Baltimore and to assisting your coverage of the marquee event on the Maryland racing calendar. Live racing returns to Old Hilltop for the spring meeting on Friday, March 30.
