havre de grace posts first official breeze of 2012
Horse of the Year Works Easy Three Furlongs in :37 4/5
NEW ORLEANS (Friday, February 10, 2012) – Fox Hill Farms’ reigning Horse of the Year Havre de Grace posted her first official breeze of 2012 Friday morning at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots, an easy three furlongs in :37 4/5 with exercise rider Jen Brasser aboard.
The 5-year-old mare had the first timed move of the day, just after the track opened at 6 a.m., working from the three-eights pole to the finish line and galloping out a half-mile in “52 and change,” according to head clocker Mike Diliberto.
“She wasn’t being asked at all,” Diliberto added. “It was very, very, very easy.”
Havre de Grace’s first race of the year has not been determined, but trainer Larry Jones has said both the March 17 $100,000 New Orleans Ladies and the April 1, $400,000 New Orleans Handicap (Gr. II) against males are under consideration.
