Zoomin Jazz Proves Best In Biscayne Stakes

Hi Everyone,

Today’s feature at Hialeah Park was the $20,000 Biscayne Stakes for two year olds at 350 yards. As is the norm for the two year old races, we had some surprises and an exciting finish, with Zoomin Jazz flying on to get the victory for red hot connections. Young Oscar Delgado continues on a tear and is displaying his talent for everyone to see. See below and attached for more!

Take care,

ZOOMIN JAZZ FLIES LAST FOR THE WIN IN BISCAYNE STAKES

Hialeah, FL, December 27- Hialeah Park held a special Holiday racing card today, amidst sunny but cool South Florida conditions. The feature of the day was the $20,000 added Biscayne Stakes for two year olds at 300 yards.

Zoomin Jazz, a two-year-old colt by Azoom, broke only average but unleashed a furious late rally to nail Chicksicle in the closing strides for the victory over the fast racing surface. As the 8-5 betting favorite, Zoomin Jazz paid $5.20 to win and collected $9,450 for the score, while covering the course in 15.397, with a strong tailwind. Chicksicle held gamely for second, a head in front of Better Than This who could not capitalize on a sharp start and ended up third.

Zoomin Jazz has now won 3 of 10 at lifetime with this being his first win in two tries locally.  Zoomin Jazz simply never fired when accorded a chance in his trial for the Hialeah Laddie Futurity last out but proved that effort was a good tightener with the resolute score Monday. He was bred in Oklahoma by Henry Brown and is out of the Corona Cartel mare Jazzy Corona.

The connections of the winner are on a roll this season at Hialeah Park. The owner, Abelino Rojas, is fresh off a big win with Endless Ocean in the December 18th Hialeah Lassie Futurity and the trainer, Jose Baltierrez won with both Endless Ocean and scored yesterday with Mr Black Jesse in the Hialeah Derby.

Meanwhile, Zoomin Jazz’s jockey, Oscar Delgado, continues on like a man possessed. Delgado was on-board both for both Endless Ocean & Mr Black Jesse ‘s victories, but also racked up seven consecutive wins during the December 24 and 26 race cards and registered another two wins this afternoon. The track’s leading rider, Delgado remains focused and humble.

“I’m just very happy that God has blessed me with some very good horses, great people, and a little luck. It feels really good.”, said Delgado with a smile.

Racing returns to Hialeah Park Friday, with a 2:05 PM first race post.  Saturday, the track will be holding its annual Fan Appreciation Day, with cash, prize and ticket giveaways, food and drink specials and live music.  The racing season at the famed oval continues through January 23rd with racing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 2:05 pm.  Hialeah Park offers free parking and admission every day, with valet parking available for just $3.
