STREAKIN RARE FASTEST QUALIFIER FOR HIALEAH DERBY
Hialeah, FL December 10- The 2nd weekend of quarter horse racing at Hialeah Park got underway Friday with the trials for the 2010 Hialeah Derby to be held December 26th.
The trials were contested over 3 races amidst sunny south Florida skies. The performance of the day came from yet another horse from the red hot Charlton Hunt barn, this time in the form of Streakin Rare. Off balance at the start, the daughter of Fredericksburg kicked it into high gear midway earning, finishing up full of run while stopping timer in a qualifying best 21.556. She will headline the cast of 9 others who earned a berth to the final on December 26.
Streakin Rare’s stable mate Jakes Seis also qualified to the final, falling a nose short to A Riverboat Gambler in the 2nd trial. The latter, a son of Game Patriot ran the race of his life, having been soundly defeated in a $10,000 state-bred claiming race at Evangeline Downs in his most recent try. Kept to task by Jose Ranilla, A Riverboat Gambler was the 5th fastest qualifier, completing the course in 21.693.
The third trial saw Mr Black Jesse return to his favorite surface to run a flawless race under Oscar Delgado. Breaking from the outside, the grey son of Take Off Jess powered home for his third local victory in four outings, covering the course in 21.638.

The 2nd annual Quarter Horse race meet at Hialeah Park will continue Saturday with a first post of 2:05 PM. Hialeah Park invites all fans to join us tomorrow for a free hat, while supplies last. Tomorrow’s feature race is the $20,000 Orange Blossom Stakes at 550 yards, featuring 870 specialist Stone E Motion. As always, Hialeah Park offers free parking and admission every race day, with valet parking available for just $3.
