NYRA RACING CALENDAR PROMOTION USHERS IN 2011
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – One of The New York Racing Association, Inc.’s (NYRA) most popular promotions returns to Aqueduct Racetrack on Saturday, January 1 as a new year is ushered in with the 2011 NYRA Calendar.
Home to more than 30 beautifully vivid, colorful and inspired photos taken by NYRA track photographer Adam Coglianese, the calendar features the best horses and jockeys from the New York circuit in 2010.
The highlights include Blame’s thrilling Whitney win against Quality Road, Drosselmeyer’s Belmont Stakes triumph, and Afleet Express’ close-as-can-be nose victory over Fly Down in the Travers.
New to this year's calendar is a unique QR (quick response) code for every month which, when scanned with a smartphone, directly links to the race replay for that month's featured horse.
This year, fans can obtain their 2011 calendars at both Aqueduct Racetrack and Belmont Park. At Aqueduct, the calendars will be distributed on the south end of the first floor of the Clubhouse, and at Belmont, you can get them at the Belmont Café. Calendars are available for only $2.
There is a five calendar limit per person, while supplies last.
The Calendar Coupon Redemption Areas at both tracks will open at 11 a.m. and remain open until post time for Saturday’s 7th race. At both Aqueduct and Belmont, general parking and admission are free.
Founded in 1955, and franchised to run thoroughbred racing at New York’s three major tracks through 2033, NYRA boasts a lineage that actually stretches back almost 150 years. Factoring nationwide off-track wagering, the average daily betting handle on NYRA races alone totals more than $9.3 million every race day.
