FRONT RUNNING EDPLICIT MAKES EVERY POLE A WINNING ONE IN THIRD WIN OF SEASON

OKLAHOMA CITY – The speedy Edplicit threw his hat in the ring for Champion Claiming Horse honors at Remington Park, scoring for the third time this season. The three-year-old gelding was able to carry his front running style around two turns in the $28,500 Allowance feature for this first win at the route distance.

Owned by Edward and Lisa Macalik of Houston, Tex. and trained by Karl Broberg, Edplicit was ridden by Quincy Hamilton who has been aboard for each one of the geldings six starts at Remington Park. The Texas-bred went directly to the front from the two post position at the break of the gates and led every step of the way. Hamilton had Edplicit running comfortably through fractions of :23.95 for a quarter-mile, :47.70 for a half-mile and 1:12.71 for three-quarters of a mile. Edplicit entered the stretch with a two length advantage and was able to hold off the late run by I Need a Baleout to win by a half-length stopping the timer at 1:44.47 for the 1-1/16 miles.

Notify who stalked Edplicit for most of the race was 2-3/4 lengths behind the runner-up in third while Turbo Kris faded to fourth after attempting to challenge in the early stages.

The heavy wagering favorite, Edplicit paid $3.20 to win, $2.40 to place and $2.40 to show. I Need a Baleout returned $4.20 to place and $3.40 to show. Notify paid $4.40 to show.

A son of Explicit from the Hay Halo mare Hay Costa, Edplicit has never been off the board at Remington Park with three wins, two seconds and one third in his six local starts. Edplicit who broke his maiden for the price of $7,500 in August at Remington Park earned $17,010 for his effort to boost his overall earnings to $44,638.

The feature race win was the third for the night for Hamilton who scored in the opener for Broberg with Perfect Tap ($4.20) as well as the fifth race with Thezimman ($23.60) for trainer Joe Offolter. The riding triple gives Hamilton 43 wins on the season moving him to fourth in the jockey standings.

Racing continues Saturday at Remington Park with 11 races slated to start at 5:30pm. The Remington Park season ends on Dec. 11, featuring the finale of the 2-year-old stakes series, the $250,000 Springboard Mile.
