STREAK CONTINUES FOR GLENBEIGH, NOW UP TO THREE

OKLAHOMA CITY – A surface switch made no difference to the winning ways of Glenbeigh. He successfully moved from the turf to the main track to win his third consecutive race in handling a $29,500 optional allowance event going one mile.

Owned by Lester Ellenz of Tipton, Kan. and trained by Clinton Stuart, Glenbeigh was ridden by Glen Murphy. The 3-year-old Kentucky-bred gelding has put together a solid Remington Park season with two wins over the turf just prior to his Saturday night score. Overall this season in six starts he has three wins, a pair of seconds and one third.

Glenbeigh rallied from next to last in the field of 10, beginning his move in the second turn, rolling wide of rivals to get in position for the stretch run. He collared the pace-setting Elusive Schemes late in the stretch and then held off a charge by No Walkin’ Joe to win by three-quarters of a length in 1:37.52 over the fast track.

Elusive Schemes held on for third with Jaival finishing fourth after running last for the first six furlongs of the race.

Overlooked in the wagering at 15-1 odds, Glenbeigh paid $33.40 to win, $10.60 to place and $8.20 to show. No Walkin’ Joe returned $6.80 to place and $5.20 to show. Elusive Schemes paid $5.20 to show.

The exacta (Nos. 7-1) paid $231 with the trifecta (7-1-3) paying $3,221.60. The 10-cent superfecta (7-1-3-2) paid $684.59.

A son of Pollard’s Vision from the Housebuster mare Ring of Kerry, Glenbeigh won his fifth race from 13 career attempts and his fourth overall at Remington Park. Earning $17,475 for his third straight score hiked his lifetime bankroll to $79,353.

Jockey Cliff Berry posted a riding triple Saturday to extend his narrow lead in the seasonal rider standings. His hat trick began with Go Okie Go ($2.80 to win) in race three, Sunset Stroll ($5.60) in race five and Southern L K ($11.20) in race seven.

The three wins for Berry moves him to 53 for the season, three ahead of second-place Ramsey Zimmerman who has 50.

The 2010 Remington Park Thoroughbred Season moves into December, resuming Wednesday thru Saturday, Dec. 1-4, with the first race each night at 5:30pm (central). The season will finish on Saturday, Dec. 11 with the richest 2-year-old stakes race of the meeting featured, the $250,000 Springboard Mile.
