REMINGTON PARK PROGRAMS INCREASE TO 11, POST TIME ADJUSTED

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Remington Park 2010 Thoroughbred Season continues as one of the most successful in recent years. Beginning Friday night, 11 races will be conducted for every program thru the remainder of the season which culminates Dec. 11.

The final 12 racing cards of the season will boast 11 races and a starting time of 5:30pm (central), one-hour earlier than what has been the norm. The new post time will not affect the special Black Friday, Nov. 26 start time of 1:30pm.

Prior to this increase, the number of races on a nightly basis has been nine on Wednesdays and Thursdays with 10 each on Fridays and Saturdays.

“The addition of races has been made possible due to the overall success of our entertainment offerings,” noted Remington Park president and general manager Scott Wells. “It is important to the Oklahoma horse racing industry that we maximize racing opportunities for our horsemen and our fans for the remainder of the season.

“2010 has been a tremendous first year for Remington Park under the new ownership of Global Gaming Solutions,” Wells said. “The multi-million dollar upgrades to the facility this year have been well received by our guests, leading to higher attendance and interest for both our racing product and our casino.”

The wagering statistics for the Thoroughbred Season are well ahead of the comparable numbers from the 2009 season with 14 racing dates still to be contested.

The first 11-race program Friday drew entries for 115 horses, a 10.5 per race average. The additional races increase the projected daily average purses for the season to $230,000.

The Remington Park season will conclude on Dec. 11, featuring the finale of the 2-year-old stakes series, the $250,000 Springboard Mile.
