NYRA OFFERS $250,000 LATE PICK FOUR SATURDAYS AT AQUEDUCT
OZONE PARK, N.Y. -- The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced that it will offer a $250,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 Saturdays at Aqueduct Racetrack during the remainder of the 2010 meet. The first Guaranteed Late Pick 4 of the meet will be offered on Saturday, November 13.
This marks the first time that NYRA has offered a weekly Pick 4 guarantee during the Aqueduct fall meet. This year, NYRA offered a $500,000 Guaranteed Saturday Late Pick 4 during the Saratoga meet, $300,000 Guaranteed Saturday Late Pick 4’s during Belmont’s spring and fall meets, and a $250,000 Guaranteed Saturday Late Pick 4 during the Aqueduct winter meet.
Although NYRA offers daily Pick 4’s on races 2-5 and the final four races of the day, the $250,000 guarantee applies only to the Late Pick 4 on Saturdays. The Late Pick 4 is a $1 minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winners of the last four races on the card, usually beginning with race 6 on Aqueduct Saturdays.
By guaranteeing the wager for $250,000, NYRA will supplement the difference if the total wagering pool for the Saturday Late Pick 4 is less than $250,000.
Founded in 1955, and franchised to run thoroughbred racing at New York’s three major tracks through 2033, NYRA boasts a lineage that actually stretches back almost 150 years. NYRA tracks are the cornerstone of the state’s thoroughbred business which contributes more than $2 billion annually to New York State’s urban, suburban and rural economy. In 2009, more than 1.6 million people attended the live races at NYRA tracks. Factoring nationwide off-track wagering, the average daily betting handle on NYRA races alone totals more than $9.3 million every race day. NYRA has a vast network of websites, including www.nyra.com, www.belmontstakes.com, and www.nyragroupsales.com.
