2010-2011 HIALEAH PARK RACING SEASON TAKING SHAPE: HORSES ARRIVE FRIDAY
Hialeah, FL, November 15- The tractors at famed Hialeah Park have been working overtime the past few weeks, readying the track for the its second season of quarter horse racing, which opens Friday, December 3rd, less than a month away.
Vans full of horses are on the way from all across the country, ready to arrive at Hialeah in time for the opening of the track’s barn area on Friday. The track’s advice to those who plan on racing their horses at Hialeah this year: get here early and be ready for a traffic jam.
“We have space for 820 horses but I’ve have applications for more than 900 horses. And these guys are coming from all over, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, you name it. With a move like that, the quarter horse industry is telling everybody that Hialeah Park is the place to be. It should make for a good meet and having to find room for everyone is a good problem to have,” said Director Of Racing Sam Abbey.
This is a good problem to have, indeed. Armed with a full barn area and the lowest takeout commission in the country at 12% on all wagers, the quality of racing at the upcoming meet will be world class. Couple that with the track’s exciting new promotions, live entertainment, quarter horse simulcasting, weekly food specials and FREE admission and general parking, this is season you don’t want to miss!
The 24-day Quarter Horse racing season, the track’s second following an eight year absence, is set to get underway Friday, December 3rd with live racing every Friday-Sunday, except Christmas, through January 23rd, 2011. First post time is 2:05 pm daily, with a special post time of 12:35 pm both Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, January 23. General parking and admission is free to all fans, with valet parking only $3.
