NEW ORLEANS (Wednesday, October 27, 2010) – Nineteen horses that have raced at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots are among the 184 pre-entries announced today for the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the 14-race, $26 million extravaganza set for Nov. 5-6 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. The primary local rooting interest, though, is Blame, a contender for Horse of the Year who has never raced at Fair Grounds but spent the past two winters here with trainer Al Stall Jr., a New Orleans native. Blame was pre-entered for North America’s richest race, the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic, which will also include the undefeated superstar mare Zenyatta in her final career start.

First post from Churchill Downs on Friday, Nov. 5 is 1 p.m. Central Daylight Time (CDT) with the first Breeders’ Cup race, the Marathon, set for 3:10 p.m. CDT and the featured Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CDT.
