DOMINGUEZ, RODRIGUEZ, DUBB TOP BELMONT FALL MEET

ELMONT, N.Y. – Ramon Dominguez, whose winning streak of nine straight riding titles on The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) circuit was snapped at Saratoga Race Course, was back on top of the standings once again Sunday at the conclusion of Belmont Park’s fall championship meet.

Dominguez, the nation’s leading rider, finished the 37-day meet with 62 winners, 25 more than runner-up Javier Castellano, with John Velazquez in third place with 29 winners. Dominguez, who won Belmont’s Grade 1 Jockey Club Gold Cup Invitational with Haynesfield, led all jockeys nationally with 313 winners of more than $14 million through Saturday.

Former jockey Rudy Rodriguez, who saddled his first winner in February, dominated the trainer standings with 22 victories for his first meet title. Todd Pletcher was second with 14 wins and Tom Albertrani third with 11 winners.

Michael Dubb was the leading owner with 15 victories.

With the conclusion of Belmont Park’s fall championship meet, New York racing moves to Aqueduct Racetrack beginning Friday, November 5, for the 36-day fall meet that runs through December 31. First race post time on most days is 12:30 p.m., with live racing conducted Wednesday through Sunday. Visit NYRA.com for more information.
