90 DEGREES WEST HEADLINES COLLEGE NIGHT AT STARLIGHT RACING DECEMBER 26
NEW ORLEANS (Thursday, December 18, 2014) – The popular Starlight Racing series returns to Fair Grounds on December 26 at 5 p.m with College Night. Presented by Miller Lite and Blue Moon, the December Starlight event will be the last of two offering a special cosmic twist with the Miller Lite White Out Party in the Starlight tent on the track apron. Glowing drinks and blinking accessories will liven up the atmosphere along with jockette dancers and neon body painters will allow racing fans to customize their appearance under the black lights. The first 200 racing fans in the Starlight tent will receive free t-shirts.
Live music will be provided in the clubhouse from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m. by local country band 90 Degrees West who will be making their Starlight Racing debut. DJ Mig will provide music in the Starlight tent. Popular local food pop-ups Bratz Y’all and Crepe a la Carte will again serve food on the track apron.
In conjunction with College Night, the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association will give away a pair of $1,000 scholarships. Any student enrolled at an accredited institution of higher learning is eligible to win one of the two scholarships. Registration will take place between Race 1 and Race 4 on the card, and the winners will be announced after Race 5 in the winner’s circle. Students can register at the sign-up table on the first floor of the West side of the building just inside from the Starlight tent.
The Starlight-Starbright charitable program will again be offered, allowing non-profit and for-profit organizations to raise much needed funds for their own charitable organization or for one that their company supports in its efforts to touch the community.
Following approval and registration with the Fair Grounds, organizations may pre-sell or direct their membership and supporters to purchase tickets to the designated Starlight racing event through the Fair Grounds online ticketing system, www.fgno.com/tickets. Based on surpassing the minimum of 25 pre-sold tickets per date, the organization then receives 50% of the admission cost ($5.00 per person) back in a rebate.
