VALID A. J. BREAKS THROUGH WITH FIRST WIN OF SEASON

OKLAHOMA CITY – Persistence paid off finally for Valid A. J. in Wednesday’s $38,250 allowance feature for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park. The 5-year-old mare had knocked on victory’s door in her previous starts this season, finishing second in both. She came through to win with a front-running performance in her third attempt of the season, scoring by three-quarters of a length over Cass Lake Kitty

Owned by Poindexter Thoroughbreds of Springfield, Mo. and trained by Lynn Chleborad, Valid A. J. was guided home by Ramon Vazquez. The mare moved immediately to the front as the 8-5 wagering favorite and crossed the finish in 1:11.11 over a fast track.

Valid A. J. paid $5.40 to win, $3.20 to place and $3 to show. Cass Lake Kitty rallied for second and paid $13.60 to place and $6.60 to show. Easter Bird Creek was third and paid $4.20 to show.

The win was the fourth from 28 career starts for Valid A. J., a daughter by Ocean Terrace from the Valid Wager mare Valid Kris. She made $21,972 for her effort, boosting her overall bankroll to $142,051.

Remington Park racing continues Thursday thru Saturday, Nov. 6-8, with the first race nightly at 7pm. The $100,000 Clever Trevor Stakes is featured Friday night for 2-year-olds at seven furlongs.

Remington Park is open daily at 10:30am for simulcast racing and casino gaming, featuring the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, the home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Sunday, Dec. 14.
