STREAK CONTINUES FOR ECLETO RED, CALDWELL WINS 30TH

OKLAHOMA CITY – Ecleto Red jumped out to the lead from the start of Friday’s $17,500 starter allowance event in race four and was never headed, winning his third consecutive race.

Owned by Glynn Puryear, Jr. and Jack Crews of Dumas, Ark. and trained by Lynn Chleborad, Ecleto Red was ridden by Alex Birzer. The 4-year-old gelding has now won three straight races dating back to August with all three in front-running style. Friday night, Ecleto Red held on to win by three-quarters of a length in the one-mile race, holding off Prospect Knight followed by Ammaroo who was another length behind for third.

Away at 4-1 odds in the wagering, Ecleto Red paid $10.20 to win, $3.40 to place and $2.60 to show. Prospect Knight paid $2.40 to place and $2.10 to show as the beaten even-money betting favorite. Ammaroo returned $2.20 to show.

The win was the fifth from 13 career attempts for Ecleto Red, a Kentucky-bred son of Master Command from the Awesome Again mare Awesome Rose. The winner’s share of $10,500 boosted his total earnings to $63,247.

Smarty Party won race eight, a $30,000 allowance event, for the season’s leading owner Danny Caldwell. The win was the 30th of the season for the Poteau, Okla. owner, topping his personal best for seasonal wins when he won 29 here a year ago.

A five-time winner of the Ran Ricks, Jr. award as the Thoroughbred season leading owner, Caldwell is now within six victories of the all-time Remington Park mark for season wins. Gary Owens of Mustang, Okla. won 36 times in 2005 to set the record for Thoroughbred season wins by an owner.

Remington Park Thoroughbred racing continues Saturday, Nov. 15 with the first at 7pm.

Remington Park is open daily at 10:30am for simulcast racing and casino gaming, featuring the Bricktown Brewery on the casino floor. Admission, general parking and valet parking are always free at Remington Park, the home of the $250,000 Springboard Mile on Sunday, Dec. 14.
