OKLAHOMA CITY – Katrina Nicole has found her best stride, winning her second consecutive race over the Remington Park turf. She defeated nine other fillies and mares going 7-1/2 furlongs in a $30,000 allowance Thursday.

Owned by Flying V Ranch of Prague, Okla. and trained by Bret Calhoun, Katrina Nicole was ridden by Cliff Berry. The 5-year-old Oklahoma-bred mare sat just off the pace until the stretch run when Berry angled her outside of rivals for her best move. Ribbon Of Darkness, the 2-1 wagering favorite, took the lead in the stretch but could not maintain the advantage. Katrina Nicole moved past in the final sixteenth of a mile, going on to win by one length in 1:30.77 over the firm going. Ribbon Of Darkness held second while the early pace-setter, Hidden Edge, was 6-1/2 lengths behind the winner in third.

Away at 3-1 odds in the betting Katrina Nicole paid $8.40 to win, $4.40 to place and $2.80 to show. Ribbon Of Darkness returned $3.80 to place and $2.60 to show. Hidden Edge paid $4 to show.

The victory was the third from seven career starts for Katrina Nicole, a daughter of Wando from the Whitesburg mare Lucky Lady Laura. Her second win in a row at Remington Park was worth $21,870 to move her lifetime earnings to $67,736.
