DIVA'S DIAMOND SHINES WITH STRONG PERFORMANCE

OKLAHOMA CITY – Wednesday's $40,000 allowance feature at Remington Park for older fillies and mares was completely controlled by Diva's Diamond. The 5-year-old mare dueled for the lead until the stretch of the 1 mile-70 yards then pulled clear with ease to win by three lengths.

Foreign Sultress gave Diva's Diamond company on the front of the field of six until the pair reached the top of the homestretch. At that point, jockey Glen Murphy let his mare loose and she effortlessly moved away from her pace partner. Owned by Jerry Namy of Fort Worth, Texas and trained by Karl Broberg, Diva's Diamond crossed the finish in 1:41.18 over a muddy main track.

Hung The Moon moved into second after a rally from mid-pack and was followed by Hollywood Knockout third. Foreign Sultress faded to fourth.

The heavy wagering favorite at 1-2 odds, Diva's Diamond paid $3 to win, $2.20 to place and $2.10 to show. Hung The Moon returned $3.60 to place and $3 to show. Hollywood Knockout paid $3 to show.

The win was the ninth from 31 career starts for Diva's Diamond, an Illinois-bred by Crafty Shaw from the Glitterman mare Diamond Diva. She won for the first time at Remington Park and picked up $23,949 in the process to run her lifetime earnings to $426,366.

Remington Park's Thoroughbred Season continues Thursday thru Saturday, Sept. 11-13. The $50,000 Remington Park Turf Sprint is the feature race of the week, on Friday night.
