Yaddo (NYB) Quotes

Chad Brown, winning trainer of Dayatthespa (No. 4): "I think the race set up better for her today [than yesterday's Grade 2 Ballston Spa]. I'm sure the ground was firmer today, although it was listed as good. With all the warm weather, I'm sure it had less give in it [than yesterday]."

"Javier [Castellano] rode a beautiful race on her. The race she had three weeks ago, you never know how running back is going to affect them. It was a benefit for her; she hadn't run in a long time going into the De La Rose. She was plenty fit today to run 1 1/16 miles."

"The second quarter-mile concerned me the most because it looked like [Discreet Marq] drew alongside, and Javier, for a moment there, might have had his hands full. Then Discreet Marq backed off, or we spurted away, I'm not exactly sure. [Discreet Marq] tried her again on the turn, but our filly was dead game today and proved best."

"The real goal when we put her back into training this year was the First Lady at Keeneland, and we worked backwards from there. We penciled these two races in a while ago. She made both and ran well in both. If everything is good, we'll take her to Keeneland - she loves it just as much as Saratoga."

"On a personal note, for a horse to win four straight years up here at Saratoga, it's so hard. For a horse to be consistent enough for me to win four straight years is remarkable. We're going to hate to see her go some day when she leaves us."

Javier Castellano, winning jockey aboard Dayatthespa (No. 4): "It was a great race. It was what I expected [being] on the lead. She's got the speed, she's the best horse in the race. I wanted to see how far she could go, you know? The [De La Rose on Aug. 2] was a mile race and today was a mile and a sixteenth. I had to be careful for that last sixteenth. It was a little bit of a question mark, but she did it so easy."

"She enjoyed the trip, she just galloped along on the lead and got it done. She finished really strong, it was no problem at all for the mile and a sixteenth. She did very well today. She did it very easy today, I give her all the credit."
