HOLLYWOOD KNOCKOUT WITH PLENTY OF STRETCH PUNCH AT REMINGTON PARK
OKLAHOMA CITY – Thursday’s $33,205 allowance feature for older fillies and mares going one-mile over turf went to Hollywood Knockout. The 4-year-old filly posted her first turf score in front-running fashion while picking up her third win in her last four races.
Owned by 7 Cedars Farm of Barnsdall, Okla. and trained by Clinton Stuart, Hollywood Knockout was ridden with confidence by Ken Tohill. Hollywood Knockout led from the start but was challenged in mid-stretch as 8-5 wagering favorite Tickle Again pulled alongside. Tohill managed to get Hollywood Knockout to respond with a finishing blow in striding out to win by 1-1/4 lengths. She handled the mile on firm turf, while a light rain fell, in 1:38.47.
At 8-1 in the wagering, Hollywood Knockout paid $19.80 to win, $7 to place and $5.20 to show. Tickle Again held on for second, returning $3.60 to place and $3.20 to show. Okie Nova was along for third, just a neck behind the runner-up, paying $4.80 to show.
A Kentucky-bred daughter by Successful Appeal from the War Chant mare All Hollywood, Hollywood Knockout has now won six career races with three of them at Remington Park. The first-place check of $18,747 rolled her overall earnings to $125,425.
Remington Park’s Thoroughbred Season continues with racing Friday and Saturday night beginning at 7pm. The feature race Friday is the $50,000 Ricks Memorial Stakes for older fillies and mares, on the turf at one-mile. A special holiday program on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 1 will begin at 1:30pm. All times are central.
