HALL OF FAME LEGEND ANGEL CORDERO, JR. AND HOMETOWN TRAINER CHAD BROWN JOIN ATPL FOR A PREVIEW OF SARATOGA'S BIGGEST ANNUAL HORSE RACING EVENT

 

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - August 18, 2014 - Finding a stronghold in the winner's circle at Saratoga is live, studio audience and on-air ESPN broadcast, At The Post Live. In this week's edition, host Andy Serling will feature inside tips for the biggest event of the season, the 145th running of the Travers, the "Mid-Summer Derby" with special guests Angel Cordero, Jr., the most popular rider in Saratoga history; Chad Brown, hometown favorite trainer; andweekly TimeformUS and ATPL staple, MIKE BEER.

 

Angel Cordero, Jr. is a Racing Hall of Fame legend and one of the all-time leading thoroughbred horse racing jockeys. His commanding list of accomplishments includes winning all three of the American Classic Races: the Kentucky Derby in 1974, 1976 and 1985 respectively aboard Cannonade, Bold Forbes and Spend A Buck; the Preakness Stakes in 1980 with Codex and in 1984 with Gate Dancer; and the 1979 Belmont Stakes, once again atop Bold Forbes, that year's eventual American Champion Three-Year-Old Male Horse. During his career, Cordero also rode four Breeders' Cup winners and was the leading rider at Saratoga Race Course for 13 years.

 

Chad Brownis a multiple graded stakes-winning trainer and currently one of the top three trainers at the Spa. A native of Mechanicville, NY, a town very close to Saratoga Springs, Brown became an instant local favorite. In his Saratoga debut in 2008, Brown won with Star Player, the very first horse that he entered in the first race on opening day. Major career victories include the 2013 Sword Dancer Invitational Handicap with Big Blue Kitten; the 2008 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf with Maram, in his first season as a full-fledge trainer; and the 2012 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf with Zagora, an Eclipse Award Champion grass mare.
