Albany (NYB) Quotes

Tom Bush, winning trainer of So Lonesome (No. 7): "The turf, I think, helped get the horse built up a bit. He was always a lightly built colt, and he just needed a lot of time, a lot of training, and a lot of racing to get him tight enough. He moves much better now on the dirt than he did when he was a young horse. I think he's turned the corner. We're just happy to see him get back in the game and run like we know he can. Even though it was coming back close [from the Grade 2 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame on August 8], he didn't really run much in that race, so we felt like we could bring him back in this race with no trouble. He puts a lot into his gallops in the morning; he's a very aggressive horse. He's by Awesome Again, so he'll run as far as they write them. There's a chance he could run on the turf again at some point. The two turns I think is good. Probably the Empire Classic [October 18 at Belmont Park] would be a goal."

Jose Lezcano, winning jockey aboard So Lonesome (No. 10): "Last time I took too much hold of him. He doesn't want to run that way; he wants to run free. I let him run today, and he never stopped. He'll run on both [dirt and turf]; the main thing is to let him have his way."
