Saratoga Race Course to Host New International Heritage Series

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will host a weekly celebration of global culture and heritage with its inaugural International Heritage Series at Saratoga Race Course during the 2014 summer meet.

 

The day-long festive events will feature traditional music, dance, entertainment, crafts and food each Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Saratoga Pavilion located inside the Reserved Seats Box Office entrance. Musical and dance performances will also take place near the Saratoga bandstand and gazebo throughout each afternoon.

 

The International Heritage Series lineup will include: Latino-American Day on July 23; Italian-American Day on July 30; Irish-American Day on August 6; African-American Day on August 13; and Asian-American Day on August 20. The final installment of the series will celebrate the history and culture of Saratoga Springs with Saratoga Heritage Day on August 27.

"We look forward to welcoming first-time fans and loyal guests to Saratoga to celebrate their heritage and enjoy some of the finest thoroughbred racing in the world."

 

In addition to enjoying live entertainment and ethnic food, fans will be encouraged to dress up their picnic displays in the backyard with cultural décor in correspondence with the weekly theme for the chance to win a variety of prizes.

 

Named one of the top 10 sports venues in the nation by Sports Illustrated, Saratoga Race Course has been the summer home to champion thoroughbreds, renowned trainers, celebrated jockeys and famed horsemen for over 150 years. Saratoga Race Course annually welcomes hundreds of thousands of fans to experience its unique combination of world-class thoroughbred racing, sophistication and family fun in a Victorian-era setting.
