Scat About, trained by Danny Peitz and ridden by Leandro Goncalves, returned mutuels of $8, $4 and $2.40, toured the nine furlongs in 1:53.10 and increased his career earnings to $109,854 with his second victory in 15 lifetime starts.
Reason to Be Proud paid $5.60 and $3.40 for second, finishing 1 3/4-lengths in front of
Jay Em Ess Stable’s Bold Front set early fractions of 24.68 and 49.88 before weakening after the eighth pole.
Racing resumes Tuesday at Fair Grounds for a special nine-race program featuring the $75,000 Mardi Gras Stakes. Post time for Mardi Gras Day is 1 p. m.
