NEW ORLEANS (Wednesday, February 06, 2013) – Brereton Jones’s Believe You Can, who won the $100,000 Tiffany Lass Stakes at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots last Saturday, is likely to make her next appearance once again at the local oval as a participant in the listed $150,000 New Orleans Ladies March 9, trainer Larry Jones confirmed Wednesday morning during training hours.
“She came out of her race (in the Tiffany Lass) really well,” Jones said. “All is good with her. The New Orleans Ladies is not set in stone for her next start, but as of right now that’s our number one ob

SMITTEN, DANCINGINTHECIRCLE BREEZING TOWARD RACHEL ALEXANDRA FEB. 23 – Fox Hill Farms’ Smitten, who finished third in the $125,000 Silverbulletday Stakes Jan. 19 here, breezed a bullet three furlongs in 34.60 Tuesday at the local oval and is being pointed toward the Grade III Rachel Alexandra Stakes Feb. 23 on Louisiana Derby Preview Day Presented by Lamarque Ford.
“She seems to be progressing like you want them to,” said trainer Larry Jones Wednesday morning. “That was a nice work she had yesterday. Now we’re trying to teach her to get up in there and get involved a little earlier in her races.”
Bret Jones’s Dancinginthecircle, who won the $100,000 By The Light Stakes at Delta Downs Jan. 4, breezed an easy five furlongs in 1:00.80 last Saturday at Fair Grounds.
“She worked well,” Jones said of Dancinginthecircle, who was beaten a neck for the win when third in the Grade III Arlington-Washington Lassie last September. “Right now, we’re trying to get her to relax a little more.”
Like Smitten, Dancinginthecircle is also being pointed for the Rachel Alexandra as the final prep for the Grade II Fair Grounds Oaks March 30.
“I would like to run them both in the Rachel Alexandra,” said Jones. “They both have different running styles so they shouldn’t interfere with each other.”
MARK VALESKI BEING POINTED FOR GRADE III MINESHAFT HANDICAP FEB. 23 – Brereton Jones’s Mark Valeski, winner of
“That’s the race we’re shooting for,” confirmed trainer Larry Jones on Wednesday. “He should be showing up on the work tab again on Monday.”

However, Brereton Jones’s Mr. Bowling, winner of Fair Grounds’ Grade III Lecomte Stakes last winter, is not likely for the Mineshaft.
“We’ve still got to get him back on track,” said Jones.
ICON IKE LIKELY FOR $75,000 COLONEL POWER STAKES MARCH 16 – Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher Gray’s Icon Ike, most recently the winner of the $75,000 Champion Energy Stakes at Sam Houston Jan. 26, is now being considered for the $75,000 Colonel Power Stakes March 16, trainer Larry Jones said Wednesday.
“We’ll have to find a rider for him (in the Colonel Power),” said Jones. “That race is the same day my big gray mare (Fox Hill Farms’ Joyful Victory) will be running in
