NEW ORLEANS (Sunday, February 10, 2013) – Two paid entries to November’s $500,000 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Santa Anita Park – each worth $10,000 – will be the top prizes when Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots hosts its first-ever Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge Qualifier on the New Orleans racetrack’s biggest afternoon of racing, Louisiana Derby Day, March 30.

The winner and runner-up of the Louisiana Derby Day Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge Qualifier will have both their $2,500 entry fee and $7,500 live bankroll covered for the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge (BCBC), held annually during the Breeders’ Cup World Championships and considered to be the most lucrative and exclusive live bankroll handicapping contest around. Third- through fifth-place finishers in the Qualifier will have their $2,500 BCBC entry fee paid.

The top five finishers in the Louisiana Derby Day contest also will take home shares of a cash prize pool worth $12,000 (if the contest has the maximum 60 entrants), with first place worth $5,000 cash.

The Louisiana Derby Day Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge Qualifier requires a $1,500 investment – a $500 entry fee plus a $1,000 live bankroll (players keep their winnings).

Louisiana Derby Day is annually the biggest day of Thoroughbred racing in the state. This year’s program features seven stakes races worth more than $2.5 million, including four Grade II events, topped by the milestone 100th running of the $1 million Louisiana Derby for 3-year-olds making their final start before the Kentucky Derby.

The Louisiana Derby Day Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge Qualifier will be comprised of 10 live races of the player’s choosing at Fair Grounds on March 30. Participants must bet $100 per race in Win, Place, Show, Exacta or Trifecta wagers.

The Qualifier will be headquartered in Fair Grounds’ private Gold Room, with a catered lunch and complimentary beverages for registered players.
