NEW ORLEANS (Thursday, January 31, 2013) – Holt Racing, R. E. Orth and W. E. Hawley’s Promise Me More, away alertly but allowed to settle, came up outside the leaders when set down for the drive, took command before the eighth pole and out-gamed Stoneway Farm’s Assets of War the rest of the way for a half-length score in Thursday’s $47,000 allowance and $50,000 optional claiming feature for 3-year-old fillies at Fair Grounds.

Trained by Wes Hawley and ridden by Miguel Mena, Promise Me More increased her career earnings to $71,700 with her second victory in four career starts, toured the mile and 70-yard distance in 1:45.14 and returned mutuels of $8, $4 and $2.60.

Assets of War, just behind the early leaders, rallied on the inside in the lane, could not withstand the winner late but was easily second best, paying $5.40 and $4 while finishing three and a half lengths to the good of Meadow Lane Stables’ Bellinizia who returned $4 in the show position.

Millennium Farms’ In Step Dancer made the pace with splits of 23.30 and 47.58 before weakening in the final furlong.

Racing resumes Friday at Fair Grounds with the third of seven Starlight Racing programs this season. Post time for the 10-race program is 5 p.m.
