DOMINGUEZ CONTINUES TO IMPROVE; MOVED TO NEW YORK-PRESBYTERIAN HOSPITAL

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Ramon Dominguez, who was diagnosed with a skull fracture as a result of a spill on Friday at Aqueduct Racetrack, continues to improve and was transferred today (January 22) from Jamaica Hospital in Queens to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan's East Side where he is currently undergoing further evaluation.

"Ramon is doing really well and resting comfortably," said the three-time Eclipse champion jockey's wife, Sharon Dominguez.

"I can't thank the doctors and staff enough at Jamaica Hospital for the superb care they provided to Ramon," Sharon Dominguez continued. "With an injury like this, we thought it was important to seek a second opinion, which is why we decided to change hospitals."

There is currently no timetable for Ramon Dominguez's release from New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

"We're so grateful for the concern, support, and well-wishes from the racing community and Ramon's fans," said Sharon Dominguez. "We will continue to provide periodic updates on his condition through NYRA. Ramon is improving steadily, but needs to rest as he recovers, and his doctors have prohibited him from having visitors at this time."

Dominguez was unseated during the running of Friday's seventh race when his mount, Convocation, appeared to clip heels with the eventual winner, Sovereign Default. Convocation, who stumbled and fell, did not appear to be seriously injured in the incident and was walked off the track.

A native of Venezuela, Dominguez led all riders on the NYRA circuit in 2012 with 322 victories and led the nation in earnings with $25.6 million.
