‘ELIMINATOR’ HANDICAPPING CONTEST COMES TO ARLINGTON PARK AND ALL ILLINOIS TRACKSIDE OTB LOCATIONS
Weekly prizes of up to $250 available; $1,000 Grand Prize to be offered on Nov. 10

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (Sept. 14, 2012) – Arlington Park and all Illinois Trackside Off-Track Betting locations will unveil their new handicapping contest – The Eliminator – on Saturday, Sept. 22 where players can earn a share of a weekly prize of $250, move on to subsequent rounds and eventually to the Nov. 10 finals where the Grand Prize will be $1,000.  The Eliminator is just one of several different contests to be offered this fall, including several live-money single-day tournaments with substantial prizes to be held as the Holiday season gets closer.

On Saturday, Sept. 22, The Eliminator will kick off with the first of two Saturdays of "Round 1 – Show Me the Money" action where the player has to correctly select just one (1) horse to finish third or better ("show") in any one of five (5) designated Arlington Park races to advance to the second round.

On Sat., Sept. 29 players will have a second chance to advance to the second round by picking a horse to finish third or better in any one of five designated Arlington Park races. Plus, those players who qualified on Sept. 22 can earn a second entry into Round 2 by again picking a horse to finish third or better on Sept. 29.

In addition, during each week of Round 1, the person(s) whose "show" horse has the highest "show" price will win a share of $250 (to be paid in the form of mutuel vouchers) and each location will award one contestant a food and beverage certificate to  be used on a subsequent visit to that facility.

In order to continue on in the contest, a player must correctly select a horse to finish third or better on either Sept. 22 or Sept. 29 – no player may enter the contest after the first round has concluded.

Those who advance out of the first round will advance to "Round 2 - The Place to Go" which will be held the following two Saturdays (Oct. 6 and Oct. 13) where survivors will have to pick a horse to finish second or better ("place") from one of four (4) designated races from Hawthorne Race Course.

Each week of Round 2, the person(s) whose "place" horse has the highest "place" price will win a share of $250 (to be paid in the form of mutuel vouchers) and each location will award one contestant a food and beverage certificate to  be used on a subsequent visit to that facility.

The game gets tougher for those who advance to "Round 3 – the Win & You're In the Finals" to be held on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 27 where those left will have to pick a winner from one of three (3) designated Hawthorne Race Course races.

Each week of Round 3, the person(s) whose "win" horse has the highest "win" price will earn a share of $250 (to be paid in the form of mutuel vouchers) and each location will award one contestant a food and beverage certificate to  be used on a subsequent visit to that facility.

The Finals, which will be held at Trackside Chicago at Joe’s on Weed Street on Saturday, Nov. 10, will consist of six designated Hawthorne Race Course races broken up into three parts – Part I will require players to pick a "Show" horse in each of the two races to advance to Part II where the player will have to select a "Place" horse in two consecutive races to advance to Part III requiring those left to pick the winner in two consecutive races.

The player left standing will win $1,000 (to be paid in the form of a mutuel voucher).  In the event there is more than one player remaining after Part III of the Finals - additional races will be added until there is only one player left or until there are no more scheduled races from Hawthorne Race Course that afternoon in which case the remaining players will split the $1,000 prize.  Complete rules for The Eliminator can be found at arlingtonpark.com.

Additionally, Arlington Park and all Illinois Trackside locations will continue to offer the weekly Pigskins and Ponies competition where players must pick the winner of the last three races of the day from Arlington Park (through Sept. 30) or Hawthorne Race Course (beginning Oct. 7) and the winner against the point spread of four late afternoon or evening professional football games.  The Prize Pool starts at $1,000 and grows by $250 each week there is no winner up to a maximum Prize Pool of $3,000.  Complete rules for Pigskins and Ponies can be found at arlingtonpark.com.
