HOTSPUR ADDED TO PREAKNESS INFIELDFEST CONCERT LINEUP
BALTIMORE, 04-11-11---The Maryland Jockey Club today announced that Washington D.C.-based Hotspur will open for Grammy Award winners Train and Bruno Mars on the main stage for the Preakness InfieldFEST concert on Saturday, May 21 in the Pimlico Race Course public Infield prior to the running of the $1 million Preakness® Stakes (Grade I).
Hotspur was named “New Artist of the Year” by the Washington Area Music Association and just released its second full-length album, You Should Know Better by Now. The band was the grand prize winner in New Music Seminar’s “Artist on the Verge” and in a nationwide search, Hotspur was selected as one of the country's top unsigned bands by OurStage, MySpace, Facebook, ReverbNation, New Music Seminar and Tommy Boy Records.
Hotspur's video, “If These Walls Could Talk”, is the band's third independent video, now on mtvU and also seen on MTV.com. Hotspur's second single, “Heads/Tails”, has been shown on 100 video outlets and was a special feature on “FUSE on Demand”. Hotspur won the nationwide fan vote on mtvU's program, “The Freshman”, for the video “Chandelier”. MTV has deemed the band, “Buzzworthy”. Hotspur has been on tour since the album’s release.

In addition to the main stage, the day-long multi-celebration festival experience will feature live music on the Jägermeister stage with Phil Vassar, Puddle of Mudd and Mr. Greengenes. Preakness Day is the largest single day sporting event in the state of Maryland with attendance figures topping six-figures in eight of the last 10 years, including a record 121,263 in 2007.
BLACK-EYED SUSAN DAY FEATURES TWO COUNTRY PERFORMANCES IN TURFSIDE TERRACE
Country music comes to Pimlico Race Course on Black-Eyed Susan Day, Friday, May 20, at The People’s Pink Party. Guests in the Turfside Terrace section will be treated to live performances by music stars, Steel Magnolia, courtesy of Big Machine, and The Lunabelles, courtesy of BNA Records.
Nominated for a dozen awards in less than two years, Steel Magnolia became the top winner on the television talent show, Can You Duet. The duo of Meghan Linsey and her fiancé, Joshua Scott Jones, released its debut single “Keep On Lovin’ You” in August 2009 that peaked at number four on the Hot Country Songs charts. Steel Magnolia’s self-titled album was released on January 1, 2011 and debuted at number three on Billboard’s top country albums. The Lunabelles, a hot, new four-woman band, will open for Steel Magnolia. The band features the three Arciero sisters: Olivia, Dominque and Gabby plus Alex Kline. The group is currently working on its upcoming debut album, which will feature the single, "A Place to Shine". The Lunabelles will be singing the national anthem prior to the Baltimore Orioles-New York Yankees game at Camden Yards on Thursday, May 19, the site for Pimlico’s pre-race Preakness party. Pimlico has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure® for the return of The People’s Pink Party. Highlights include second annual Lady Legends For the Cure Race™, the inaugural Female Jockey Challenge and the welcoming of 87 breast cancer survivor guests for festivities with a special winners’ circle tribute. The Preakness eve card features seven stakes races, six for fillies and mares, headlined by the Grade II Black-Eyed Susan Stakes.
