DOMINGUEZ CLOSING GAP IN SPRING MEET JOCKEY STANDINGS FOLLOWING FOUR-WIN DAY AT AQUEDUCT

OZONE PARK, N.Y. – Jockey Ramon Dominguez edged closer to the lead in the spring meet jockey standings after winning four races on Wednesday at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Trailing Cornelio Velasquez by four entering Wednesday's card, Dominguez's first winner came in the fourth race of the day, when he piloted favored Show Trial ($3.70) to win an off-the-turf claiming event by 1½ lengths. Without a mount in Race 5, Dominguez swept the Daily Double ($20.20) in Races 6 and 7 aboard Spa City Princess ($10.60) and Buster's Ready ($2.80). Though his momentum was interrupted by a runner-up finish in Race 8, Dominguez closed out the day with a front-running victory aboard Now Now Girl ($3.70) in the nightcap.

Dominguez has ridden 15 winners since the spring meet began on March 30 and is now just one behind leader Cornelio Velasquez.

Fresh off his fourth straight inner track title with 112 victories, Dominguez was named the 2010 Eclipse Award winner for Outstanding Jockey and has now captured 13 NYRA meet titles, including 12 of the last 13.
