CALIBRACHOA SCRATCHED FROM CARTER
“He’s had some soreness in his feet since his last workout,” said Jonathan Thomas, assistant to trainer Todd Pletcher. “He’s not lame, but it’s probably something that would prevent him from bringing his ‘A’ game. It might be something where if we had an additional week that it would have been fine.”
Calibrachoa, winner of the Grade 3 Toboggan and Grade 3 Tom Fool Handicap, is owned by Mike Repole, who also campaigns
“I spoke with Todd this morning, and he makes the final decision,” said Repole. “I’m not going to micromanage a five-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer. Todd thought Calibrachoa was about 80 percent, and we have a really good horse and we want to race him year-round. He’ll be ready for his next battle.”
Have You Ever, Calibrachoa’s entrymate and the expected pacesetter in the Carter, was also scratched.
