NYRA OFFERS $300,000 GUARANTEED LATE PICK FOUR SATURDAYS AT BELMONT

ELMONT, N.Y. -- The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) has announced that it will offer a $300,000 Guaranteed Late Pick 4 Saturdays at Belmont Park during the 2010 Fall Championship Meet. The first Guaranteed Late Pick 4 of the meet will be offered on Saturday, September 11.

Although NYRA offers daily Pick 4’s on races 2-5 and the final four races of the day, the $300,000 guarantee applies only to the Late Pick 4 on Saturdays. The Late Pick 4 is a $1 minimum wager in which the bettor must correctly pick the winners of the last four races on the card, usually beginning with race 7 on Belmont Saturdays.

By guaranteeing the wager for $300,000, NYRA will supplement the difference if the total wagering pool for the Saturday Late Pick 4 is less than $300,000.

On Jockey Club Gold Cup Day, Saturday, October 2, NYRA will offer a $500,000 Guaranteed Pick 4. Included on the day’s card are the following five Grade 1 races: The Jockey Club Gold Cup, the Beldame, the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic, the Flower Bowl, and the Vosburgh.

Founded in 1955, and franchised to run thoroughbred racing at New York’s three major tracks through 2033, NYRA boasts a lineage that actually stretches back almost 150 years. NYRA tracks are the cornerstone of the state’s thoroughbred business which contributes more than $2 billion annually to New York State’s urban, suburban and rural economy.
