BELMONT PARK HOSTS GARDEN CITY AND FLORAL PARK COMMUNITY DAYS

ELMONT, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will host community days for Garden City and Floral Park on Saturday, September 18 and Sunday, October 10, respectively, featuring local restaurant offerings, art shows, hat contests, trophy presentations, and more.

On September 18, the Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host a fundraiser at Belmont Park in conjunction with the 33rd running of the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes. Businesses and organizations from Garden City will present race trophies throughout the day, with proceeds going to benefit the village.

The Garden City Chamber of Commerce Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Garden City Chamber of Commerce, and provides scholarships to Garden City students and assists families in need. NYRA sponsors the Garden City Belmont Stakes Festival which provides the local Chamber with additional funds for these programs.

On October 10, Belmont Park will host Floral Park Community Day. Organized by the Village of Floral Park, the Floral Park Chamber of Commerce, and the Covert Avenue Chamber of Commerce, the day provides an opportunity for local Floral Park restaurants to sell food in the Marquee Tent in the Belmont backyard, which will be provided by NYRA for the day.

Additionally, the Floral Park Community Day Committee is planning a hat contest for children and the Floral Park Art League will host its first art show at Belmont on October 9 and 10. NYRA sponsors the Floral Park Belmont Festival as well as the Floral Park Art League over Belmont Stakes weekend.

“One of the things that makes Belmont Park so special is the wonderful history, tradition, and flavor of our neighboring communities,” said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward. “We are proud of our relationships with the local towns and villages, and look forward to hosting terrific Garden City and Floral Park community days at the track.”
