$3,982.60 LATE DAILY DOUBLE LIGHTS UP THE BOARD AT TIMONIUM
TIMONIUM, MD. 8-27-10---Longshots won the final two races on opening day at the Maryland State Fair and the late daily double returned a whopping $3,982.60 for $2.
Journeyman jockey Christian Olmo was aboard both winners. Confirmondi ($103.80) led from start to finish to take the four furlong eighth race for $7,500 claimers, holding off post time favorite Rainbow Inthestorm by a length and a half. Little Ice Patch ($53.60) wore down the speedsters in race nine, a 6-1/2 furlong allowance test, and reached the front just before the finish line. With his two victories, Olmo, a native of Puerto Rico who resides in Laurel, leads all riders in the standings.
Six days remain at the Timonium meeting, which continues on Saturday and Sunday and concludes on Labor Day.
