DETAILS:     Saratoga Race Course will celebrate Friday the 13th with a Halloween-themed day filled with a number of frightfully fun activities and entertainment for track guests of all ages.

The highlight of the day will be a special trackside children’s costume parade. Participants will gather at the Big Red Spring at 12:15 p.m. before marching through the backyard and then down the track apron from the top of the stretch to the winner’s circle. Prizes will be awarded to the best costume.

From 12:45 to 2:30 p.m., children will receive a sweet treat while trick-or-treating around the track’s most well-known landmarks. Locations include the Big Red Spring, Jockey Silks Room, the Bandstand, and The Post.

Track patrons will receive a ghoulish dose of entertainment with a special reenactment of the iconic dance routine featured in Michael Jackson’s 1980s hit music video Thriller. Performed by a group of dancers organized by local choreographer Abby Todd, the routine will be staged after the day’s second race on the track apron.

Favorite costumed characters Southpaw and Rowdy from the Tri-City ValleyCats, Bernie the Saint Bernard from Siena College, Devil Dawg from the Albany Devils, Cuppie from Dunkin’ Donuts, Bugs Bunny and Daffy from The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom, and other familiar faces from local sports teams and well-known brands will be available to meet fans during the day.

Families and children are also invited to visit the Ballston Spa National Bank Family Fun Zone, which will feature a number of family-friendly activities, including spirited hair designs for girls and boys from SNIPITS, face painting and arts and crafts from the Children’s Museum of Saratoga, and inflatable bounce houses from Maui PlayCare.
