ROSEN IN LEAD AT SARATOGA HANDICAPPING TOURNAMENT

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Philip Rosen of Clifton Park, N.Y. was in the lead Wednesday after Day One of the inaugural Saratoga Handicapping Tournament at Saratoga Race Course.

 

Rosen, who amassed $533, led Robin Buser of Delran, N.J., ($500) and Paul Chuck, Jr., of Ellington, Conn. ($433) heading into Thursday’s second and final day of the tournament.

 

Along with $100,000 in prize money at stake, the top three finishers in the tournament will also represent Saratoga at the Daily Racing Form/National Thoroughbred Racing Association National Handicapping Championships in Las Vegas in January. The top three will receive airfare and hotel accommodations for the DRF/NTRA tournament, courtesy of The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA).

 

Rosen earned $1,500 for having the highest bankroll at the conclusion of the first day of the tournament. The contestant with the highest bankroll for Day Two will also receive $1,500, with the top 10 finishers receiving cash prizes.

 

First place in the two-day tournament is worth $50,000, with second place taking home $20,000 and third place $10,000.
