Legendary Racehorse and Greatest Sire of the 19th Century, "Lexington," Returns to Kentucky 135 Years After His Death

WHAT: Arrival of skeleton of legendary Thoroughbred racehorse and sire, Lexington
WHEN: Tuesday, Aug 31, 8am WHERE: International Museum of the Horse
WHY: Lexington was arguably the most successful Thoroughbred sire who ever lived. He stood at stud in Midway, Kentucky in the mid 1800s. For the past 132 years his skeleton has been on display at the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. After two decades of negotiations with the Smithsonian, Lexington will now be on permanent loan to the Kentucky Horse Park courtesy of the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. Lexington will arrive via the FedEx White Glove Service (their special fine arts shipping service) and will be unloaded, uncrated and placed in a new permanent display created just for him, starting at 8am Tuesday.
HOW: Please park in the main parking lot and walk to the museum.
