SARATOGA RACE COURSE TO FEATURE LABOR DAY BARBECUE

Annual family-style barbecue expands to two days during Final Stretch festivities

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Saratoga Race Course will provide horse racing fans with one last chance to indulge with a classic Labor Day barbecue on Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6.

For the first time, the annual event, held as part of Final Stretch festivities, has been expanded to two days, allowing fans twice the opportunity to bring the 142nd meet to a close in true American style.

For $24 ($14 for kids ages 3-12), fans can enjoy a selection of barbecue favorites, such as hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, salad, dessert and more in the At the Rail tent. The price includes Clubhouse admission and an official “Post Parade” program.

The track barbecue is the culmination of Labor Day weekend festivities which include the “Party at the Spa” block party after racing on Friday, September 3 (first post is 2:30 p.m.); a downtown Final Stretch music festival Saturday, September 4 and Sunday, September 5; and a Family Fun Fest at Saratoga Race Course on both Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6.

In addition, all fans on Sunday, September 5, will receive a free Saratoga long-sleeve t-shirt with paid admission, while supplies last. Perfect for the ensuing fall months, the long-sleeve t-shirt features the traditional Saratoga logo and will be the final premium giveaway of the season.

Fans on Sunday will also be treated to the running of the Grade 1, $250,000 Spinaway for 2-year-old fillies. On Monday, patrons can get a potential look at next year’s 3-year-old stars in the Grade 1, $250,000 Three Chimneys Hopeful.

Reservations are required for the annual Labor Day barbecue, which is presented by the Times Union. For tickets, please call 1-888-516-NYRA.
