JOHN’S CALL QUOTES

Tom Voss, winning trainer of Always First (No. 1): “I should just train nine-year-olds – if you have any nine-year-olds, send them to me. Winning this race was great thrill, considering all that has happened, and it felt great. He looked like John’s Call coming around the turn in the Sword Dancer, I just knew he was going to win. He ran great at Delaware Park, but that was a lesser race. I knew he would take to this mile and five-eighths, and he got a beautiful ride. When he can get a clear run at the end and doesn’t have to come through anybody, he runs much better. You want this to happen, but you don’t think its going to happen.”

Robby Albarado, winning jockey aboard Always First (No. 1): “I had a great trip. I was able to move my way through the outside horses. My only instruction from Tom was to get to the outside, and once I did, he took off.”
