OF THE $750,000 GRADE I BEVERLY D. STAKES

The $750,000 race, sister race to the Grade I Arlington Million, will be run at a distance of a mile and three-sixteenths on turf. In addition to its lucrative purse, the Beverly D. offers the winner an automatic starting position in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf under the Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” format, with the winner of each of the Challenge races automatically qualifying for the corresponding divisional race in the Breeders
A daughter of the prolific turf sire Dynaformer, Rainbow View is a seven-time winner in 15 starts over grass in four countries spanning two continents. Trained by Jonathan Sheppard since the beginning of this season, the 4-year-old filly sports a victory in the Grade III Gallorette at Pimlico in May to go along with the fourth in the Modesty and a third-place run in the Grade II Nassau Stakes at Woodbine Race Course near
As a 3-year-old trained by John Gosden last year, she won the Group I Matron Stakes at

Also pegged at 5-1 in the morning line is Three Chimneys Racing and Lordship Stud’s Ave. The English-bred daughter of Danehill Dancer is winless this year but has been competitive in all three of her starts in 2010. The Roger Attfield-trained 4-year-old ran third, beaten only a half-length by Rainbow View, in the Gallorette before finishing third in the Grade II New York Stakes at Belmont Park in June. In her last start, she was second beaten only a nose in the Grade II Dance Smartly at Woodbine July 18. Ramon Dominguez has the mount aboard Ave, who drew post 10.
Nelson McMakin’s Hot Cha Cha, third in the Modesty last time out, burst upon the scene last September as a 3-year-old when she won the Grade III Pucker Up Stakes over this course. The daughter of Cactus Ridge went on to capture the Grade I Queen Elizabeth Challenge Cup at Keeneland last October and more recently scored a ¾-length victory in the Grade III Mint Julep Handicap at Churchill Downs.
