ALBARADO SIDELINED AFTER SPILL AT SARATOGA RACE COURSE

 

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Jockey Robby Albarado, a fixture at the Saratoga meet for much of the last decade, will be sidelined for an undetermined period of time after breaking his clavicle and left index finger and thumb in a fall Wednesday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course.

 

Albarado, 36, was unseated by his mount, Hunt for Candie (No. 10), while galloping out after finishing sixth in Wednesday's first race run at 5 ½ furlongs over the Mellon Turf Course. After being treated at the scene by New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) paramedics, Albarado was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center where X-rays revealed the fractures. He remained hospitalized Wednesday evening for further evaluation.
