Todd Pletcher, winning trainer of Position Limit (No. 8): “I thought it went very well. She was able to secure a good position and delivered a kick when needed. It was what we had hoped for. At the top of the stretch, I thought we had the momentum, and I would have been disappointed had she not finished it off. We’ll see how she comes out of this; right now she is likely for the Frizette [Grade 1,
John Velazquez, winning jockey aboard Position Limit (No. 8): “It set up perfect for her. We had a good position – she broke well, allowing us to sit in a spot where we were comfortable. I was slightly nervous, though, when I came up behind Baffert’s horse [Alienation] because it looked like she was going pretty easy. So I had to take a different strategy and move a little earlier than I wanted to. But as soon as I caught up with her, I knew I had her. Basically once I got her going, she won easy.”
Bob Baffert, trainer of runner-up Alienation (No. 4): “She was a little late switching leads. She’s still learning how to run, but I think she handled the dirt all right. The winner is a good filly. It was a pretty fast pace, but [Garcia] didn’t have a choice. We want to win, but I’m happy with her effort. She was the second choice and she came in second.”
