DETAILS:     The millinery mayhem of the 19th annual Hat Contest will be a perfect topper to the fashionable festivities of opening weekend at Saratoga Race Course.

The “head-lining” event of the annual “Hats Off to Saratoga” festival, the Hat Contest will once again feature a chapeau showdown in three distinct categories - Uniquely Saratoga, Fashionably Saratoga, and for younger patrons, Kreative Kids.

Hat contest registration will begin at noon under the grandstand where patrons will await their turn to flaunt their fabulous head pieces. The heady competition will unfold on the track apron after the second, third and fourth races, as participants parade in front of the judges for the chance to win a variety of Saratoga prizes including betting vouchers, lunch and gift certificates.

The first category of the afternoon, “Kreative Kids,” is reserved for those 18 and under. The category appropriately entitled, “Fashionably Saratoga,” invites contestants to don their most beautiful hats; and following the fourth race, the most original artisans and architects will go head to head for the title of “Uniquely Saratoga.”

The annual contest caps off a series of festivities and events to celebrate Hats Off to Saratoga weekend, which welcomes the return of the thoroughbreds for the 142nd season at Saratoga Race Course.
