SECOND JEWEL OF BETFAIR TVG TRIPLE TIARA SET FOR SATURDAY; BETFAIR TVG COACHING CLUB AMERICAN OAKS ON TAP AT THE SPA

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY, July 22 --- The excitement of opening weekend of the 2010 season at Saratoga Race Course will be enhanced by the running of the second jewel of the Betfair TVG Triple Tiara when a strong field of three-year-old fillies goes to the post in the Grade I, $250,000, Betfair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks on Saturday.

Run for the 94th time, the Betfair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks will be celebrating a first as it moves to upstate New York from its longtime home at Belmont Park.

“We are proud to serve as sponsor of the inaugural running of this historic race in its new home at The Spa,” said TVG CEO Stephen Burn. “The Coaching Club American Oaks brings with it a tremendous legacy having featured numerous champions in the past. We look forward to an exciting renewal on Saturday.”

The TVG Coaching Club American Oaks will be broadcast live on the TVG network. Post time is scheduled for 5:14 p.m. ET.

Sandwiched within the Betfair TVG Triple Tiara between the Betfair TVG Acorn Stakes, which was run on Belmont Stakes day and captured by Champagne d’Oro, and the Betfair TVG Alabama Stakes, scheduled for August 21 at Saratoga, the Betfair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks is a 1 1/8 mile race on Saratoga’s dirt oval. It will be the first of 17 Grade I contests on the Saratoga schedule.

With Champagne d’Oro not competing on Saturday, the $50,000 bonus pledged to a designated charity of the winning owner of any horse who takes all three Betfair TVG Triple Tiara races will go unclaimed. However, still on the line is a $30,000 charitable donation on behalf of the owner of the horse that scores the most points in the series, based on a 10-5-3 scoring system, with all starters, including the first three finishers, receiving an additional point. Also, Betfair TVG has pledged $10,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation on behalf of the New York Racing Association.

Eight fillies have been entered in the Betfair TVG Coaching Club American Oaks, including the top three finishers in last month’s Grade I Mother Goose Stakes, Devil May Care, Connie and Michael and Biofuel. Joining them are Seeking the Title, who was sixth in the TVG Betfair Acorn; Acting Happy, Absinthe Minded, Bahama Bound and Lisa’s Booby Trap.
