RESERVATIONS FOR BUFFET/VIP BACKSTRETCH TOUR PACKAGE FOR JULY 17 BREAKFAST AT ARLINGTON AVAILABLE ONLINE
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (July 7, 2010) – The first of two Breakfast at Arlington sessions for the 2010 season is slated to be held on Saturday, July 17, and for the first time guests will have an opportunity to secure a spot on our popular backstretch tour online in advance with the purchase of a special VIP backstretch tour/breakfast package, limited to the 50 guests to sign up.
“The backstretch tour has always been the most popular feature of the Breakfast at Arlington program and the on-site day-of sign ups always fill up quickly,” said Rebecca Frank, Arlington Park’s promotions coordinator. “By combining the breakfast buffet with a VIP tour and making it available for advance online purchase, guests can secure their spot for the tour without having to wait in line and run the risk of not being able to participate in the backstretch tour.”
The VIP package, available online at www.arlingtonpark.com by clicking on TICKETS and selecting the July 17 date, costs $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under. Those selecting this option will be guaranteed a spot on the first tour which immediately follows the formal breakfast program, assembling at the grandstand entrance at 9:30 a.m. and departing at 9:45 a.m. Attendees of the VIP backstretch tour will receive an Arlington Park “goodie bag” and will also get a chance to visit the Racing Office to learn how a racing card is put together and will get a rare behind-the-scenes look at the jockey’s quarters and the silks room.
At 10:30 a.m. there will be a first-to-sign-up first-served backstretch-only tour. Sign-ups for this tour will open at the start of the Breakfast at Arlington program at 8 a.m. and will be limited to the first 25 people to sign up.
The Breakfast at Arlington program is hosted by track announcer John G. Dooley and Arlington television personality Alyssa Ali and will feature guests from all walks of Thoroughbred racing from jockeys to trainers to racing officials. New features for Breakfast at Arlington in 2010 include demonstrations by a blacksmith and a veterinarian in the paddock area at 9:30 a.m.
Arlington Park – the Chicago area’s premier Thoroughbred racetrack located in Arlington Heights, Ill. – will run a 91-day meet in 2010 from Thursday, April 29 through Sunday, Sept. 26. Arlington Park, whose parent company is Churchill Downs Incorporated (Nasdaq: CHDN), also operates 11 off-track, simulcast-wagering facilities – Trackside Arlington Park (Arlington Heights), Trackside Chicago, Trackside Quad City Downs (East Moline), Trackside Waukegan, Shooters Bar & Grill at Don Carter Lanes featuring Trackside Rockford, Fat Sam’s Bar & Grill featuring Trackside OTB in Lockport, Lucky’s featuring Trackside OTB in South Elgin, Nicolino’s featuring Trackside OTB in McHenry, Tad’s Sports Bar & Grill featuring Trackside OTB in South Beloit, Salerno-Pincente Ristorante featuring Trackside OTB in Hodgkins and Sundance Saloon featuring Trackside OTB in Waukegan.
