“RIDERS UP” WITH CHANNING HILL

ELMONT, N.Y. – Jockey Channing Hill is featured in the fourth installment of NYRA’s newest video series “Riders Up,” now available on demand at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml.

The series provides fans with a comprehensive look at the riders on the NYRA circuit, from the perspective of trainers, owners, and, of course, the jockeys themselves as they discuss their motivations and thoughts on riding in New York.

Hill, a Nebraska native who was the leading apprentice in New York in 2005, has been riding almost exclusively on the NYRA circuit ever since. Currently 13th in the Belmont Park Spring/Summer Meet standings with 12 wins through the close of racing on Wednesday, Hill explains in the video how he has become a more confident, stronger rider over the course of his young career, and why New York has become his home. Trainer Mike Hushion and Todd Pletcher’s assistant trainer Jonathan Thomas also share their thoughts on Hill’s ground-saving style and development as a rider.

The “Riders Up” videos can be viewed online at http://www.nyra.com/ridersup/index.shtml and also on NYRA’s YouTube page.

“Riders Up” joins “Spotlight Series,” a behind the scenes look at the people who help NYRA racing operate smoothly on a consistent basis, “Backstretch Buzz,” in which jockeys and trainers share their thoughts on topical events and news stories concerning thoroughbred racing, “Jockey Video Cards,” up-close-and-personal interviews with NYRA’s leading jockeys, and “On the Record,” candid conversations with some of New York’s most renowned trainers, as the latest in popular on-demand videos available on NYRA.com.
