Jonathan Thomas, assistant to winning trainer Todd Pletcher of Life At Ten (No. 2): “She’s been a very generous filly for us, and I’m very proud to have won a Grade 1 with her. She’s very deserving. The main thing with her is not so much where she is, as just staying out of her way. She looked comfortable and really happy out there, and was never under any real pressure.”
John Velazquez, winning jockey aboard Life At Ten (No. 2): “She stumbled right out of the gate, first jump ‘whump.’ Second jump, she’s up and on the bridle. She went and got the lead and the track is playing pretty fast today. Once she got into the bridle, I just kind of let her do it. I didn’t know what Kent Desormeaux wanted to do, halfway through the backstretch he made up his mind that he wanted to go with me, so I just gave my horse her head. I gave her a little help at the five-sixteenths pole, she quickened up, and it was all the horse from there on.”
Bill Mott, trainer of favored runner-up, Unrivaled Belle (No. 3): “It was a good, solid effort. She ran hard to hold second place. Funny Moon made a run at her at the end, and she held her safe. Today, she wasn’t good enough to beat the winner. It was a very fast race – a very fast six furlongs.”
Kent Desormeaux, rider aboard favored runner-up, Unrivaled Belle (No. 3): “I thought she was going to be able to handle the winner, but the winner was too good today.”
